Story

UPDATE: My head shave took place on 1st October 2010 at the local Co-Op - you can keep up to date with progress by visiting my new blog at sharonshair.wordpress.com

Hello, thanks for visiting Shiny Sharon's Headshave Challenge which will take place on 1st October 2010 at the local co-op supermarket.

I am Sharon and I have worked for the local co-op supermarket for the last twenty four years and every year we raise money for charity and this year we are raising money for the Macmillan Cancer Support Charity.

Macmillan do a fantastic job supporting families and patients with illnesses, which are often terminal, so this year I thought - what could I do personally to really try and raise a lot of money to help Macmillan. We normally do things like tombola and raffles, which is great, and we are still doing them this year! However, I thought how much money could I possibly raise if I shaved my hair off.

Some people I have spoken to about this have had quite a shocked reaction, especially as they know that I love my hair, so I thought long and hard about it for about a month before committing to the idea - as once the shaving starts there is really no going back.

I lost my mom to cancer and some friends too - as have other people around me. Almost everyone I speak to knows someone who has lost someone, from a child to an elderly parent, as a result of cancer.

If you want to help and support then anything you could donate will be really appreciated and make the loss of my hair into something really positive for others.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
