Dear Friend, I'm planning to take part in a 5k Fun Run on 7.12.08, to raise money for The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and I'm writing to you in the hope that you might sponsor me! The trust is a small, flexible charity, established in 1977 to honour the memory of a famous Naturalist, David Leslie William Sheldrick MBE, the founder Warden of Tsavo East National Park in Kenya. The trust has played an extremely significant role in Kenya’s conservation effort since it was founded. It places great emphasis on minimal expenditure, thereby ensuring that donations given in support of wildlife reach their target in full, in the most practical and positive manner. The reputation of the Trust is a proud one, as was the record of the man whose name it bears, thanks to the dedication and energy of a competent Staff committed to the example of David Sheldrick as their role model. You may have seen the programmes on tv about the trust, showing baby orphan elephants (and rhinos) being rescued and rehabiliated, before being released back into the wild. Heart-wrenching stuff for we animal lovers and the reason for my fun run. I'd be really grateful for any donation you could make and to make the task painless, you can donate through Justgiving- it is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
A big, big thank you from me and them!! Shirley Broughton. xxxxxxxxxxxx
