2011 Update

Through kind generosity last year I raised ~£2000 (inc Gift aid)

In order to top last year, my main "Shoulder to Shoulder" cycling challenge for 2011 is a round trip from Blackpool to Saltcoats (Scotland) totalling 420 miles in 3 days (140 miles/day) setting off from Blackpool on 23rd August and returning on my Mum's Birthday 25th August 2011. Titled 'Always in Our Hearts'

 A Very Special Lady

On the 13th of March 2009, our lives were changed forever.

On this day we learned that my Mum had terminal Cancer. I had never seen my Mum so scared in all my life. I made a special pledge that I would be with her "Shoulder to Shoulder" through whatever we were to face.

I have been fortunate enough to fulfil this promise and also continue this pledge in loving memory and as a special tribute to my Mum.

My Mother bravely fought cancer with dignity and determination for 9 months against all odds with an original prognosis of just 4 to 6 weeks. This was a mark of just how much of a special lady she was. On 13th December 2009 my Mum passed away peacefully in the Trinity Hospice surrounded by her loving family.

The triangle of care provided by all the staff at the Trinity Hospice (Blackpool) gave my Mum and Family a place to feel safe, secure and dignified, together with an opportunity to capture everlasting treasured moments.

After my Mum passed away, I have taken up Cycling and have progressed to a number of "Shoulder to Shoulder" challenges throughout 2010 and into 2011 in support of the Trinity Hospice (Blackpool). This is in a similar way as someone else would have done to ensure that my Mother had the best possible care that she needed in this very difficult time of her life.

I would be very grateful for your support.
