Hello. As some of you know my great friends Kerry and Philip have a beautiful daughter, Mary, who was born with Cystic Fibrosis, the most commonly inherited life threatening disease.

I know I have asked for dontations before, and I wasn't going to do it for this event, BUT having just spent a weeks holiday with Mary and her family, I feel I have to do anything I can to help and time is of the essence for her.....any amount you feel able / willing to donate would be amazing, however small...... please do read on...........

Mary is now 8 and is a fun, kind, gentle little girl who is doing really well at Ballet and plays the piano. However, daily life is tough for her and her family with a regime of Physio, nebulisers, LOTS of tablets, inhalers, dietary supplements and a battle to put weight on. She has been doing well but does need hospitalisation when things get bad.

At the moment the Cystic Fibrosis Trust are tantalisingly close to finding a cure that will take away the 'life threatening' aspect of the disease. The Trust were due to start their next phase of clinical trials this year, however,it now appears that they are £6m short and therefore have put this trial on hold. Without trying to be blunt, this trial is Mary's only hope, without a cure her life expectancy is 37 years at the very best.

Having done a Sprint distance triathlon this weekend (750swim, 23km bike, 5.5 km run) and found it harder than I hoped and I am now worried about the big one, the Olympic distance, coming up this weekend.

The distances are :1500m open water lake swim, followed by 40km bike and 10km run.... the individual distances may not look too much... but put them all together, battle to get out of a wet suit and you have your self a challenge... under 3.5 hours is my aim!

Anything you can donate, however small, will be put to great use and fingers crossed the trial can go ahead, the result will be good, and it will all happen in time to help Mary.

Thank you for reading this, I truly do appreciate it,
