Welcome to my Marathon Des Sables page!
I've just run the toughest footrace in the world for the Sunshine Children's Ward at St John's Hospital Chelmsford. The race is 250km across the Sahara and competitors run with a backpack full of rations and kit in temperatures of 120 degrees for six days. Out of 800 competitors I finshed 190th overall. My highest placing was in the final marathon which I ran in 4hrs 35mins and finished 18th British competitor.
Earlier this year, the Sunshine Children's Ward looked after my son. Their care meant he was able to smile a lot throughout his stay there. The health service only provides basic care for babies and very young children, and your donation will help to make a difficult time more bearable.
Every penny you donate will go to the Sunshine Ward, as I have covered all costs of the race myself. Your donation is totally safe and secure (and if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation).
Please sponsor me - thanks.
