Established in 1981, the Newman Holiday Trust began by running a one week summer holiday for children with special needs. The Trust now provides holidays for about 130 children with special needs aged four to sixteen each year, in various locations around the UK. Due to the high level of skilled care they require or financial circumstances, the children selected for these breaks would not otherwise receive a holiday. The holidays provide a range of fun activities in a safe and supportive environment and use a care ration of one helper to one child at all times. The Trust is an entirely voluntary organization and owes its success to over 200 people who dedicate their free time to helping these children. This voluntary structure ensures that every penny raised goes directly towards a child's holiday.

Story

Dan O'Neill and Rob Nestor are competing in this year's Saunders Lakeland Mountain Marathon.

The Newman Holiday Trust is a very worthwhile cause and has been providing holidays for underprivileged children with special needs for decades.

We have both volunteered on many of these holidays and see how valuable they are and what a difference they make to children and their families' lives.

PLEASE GIVE GENEROUSLY

The Task at hand:

The SLMM comprises of running (or walking) approx. 40km up and down some mountains in the Lake District over 2 days.

We will be doing this over the weekend of the 3rd and 4th of July, which gives us very little time to train.

This is clearly no mean feat especially for the likes of us.

It is a monumental challenge, so we need your money to help support and encourage us to succeed.
