Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.

Story

Hello everyone

I bothered you all last year for sponsorship when I ran the Royal Parks Half Marathon for the Alzheimer's Society. And you helped me to raise over £700. Thank you so much!

This year, I realised I would have to step it up a bit if I wanted to get your attention and secure some more of your hard-earned dosh. So I'm going for a double challenge over the next 8 weeks...

First up is my Nike Half Marathon on Sunday 28th October http://www.runtothebeat.co.uk, starting and finishing at the O2 in London. It's a challenge in itself but, having completed my last half mara in 2 hours flat, I've decided I need to get down to 1 hour 50... And if I don't, I have to donate £200 extra to this page myself!

Second is the appropriately named "Hell Down South" or "Hellrunner" for short on Saturday 10th November www.hellrunner.co.uk. This beauty is a 10 mile Army assault course in Hampshire that my trainer, Tim, and I thought would be a lovely way to spend a cold, November morning. Tim puts me through circuit hell in the gym but I'm pretty sure this will be worse.

Now you've got to admit those two challenges are worthy of a shudder. But not a fraction of the shudder you get when you find out that brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of under 40-year-olds in the UK. I certainly didn't know until recently when my best friend's 8 month old nephew, Charlie, was diagnosed with one. I also found out it costs £3,000 per day for vital research in the UK to continue.

So it's simple, we're raising enough money to fund one day. £3,000 for one day...

If you'd like to find out more about the whys and wherefores, please join the increasingly large army following our family and friends team committed to raising as much money as possible for Brain Tumour Research. On Twitter, follow @teamcharliecox or on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/teamcharliecox. This Just Giving page is also linked to the Team Charlie Cox group so take a look at the other challenges currently underway in the team.

I, and we, would be thrilled with your support.

Thanks
