Silverstone150 - 07.07.18

On Saturday July 7th 2018, Tom, Jase and Simon will set out to bike from Gilberdyke in East Yorkshire to the Silverstone Formula 1 circuit, 150 miles in one day. Actually 165 miles now the route in finalised.

In Memory of Josh Kinroy

Josh (Tom's Brother) sadly passed away in May 2017 aged 27. Josh was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy aged 5. Throughout his younger years, living a somewhat limited lifestyle but getting on nonetheless. Aged 11, Josh was confined to a wheelchair until his passing in 2017. Sadly as Josh aged, his condition worsened and he became dependant upon his Mum as a full time carer. Josh had a dry sense of humour, loved his family... and without doubt loved Formula 1.

The Charity Muscular Dystrophy UK helped Josh in more ways than one over his years. Let's raise some money for an amazing charity and hope one day they can find a cure for this cruel disease. In the meantime Tom and Jase will get on with their training ready for the big ride.

Why Silverstone?

Josh was an avid fan of everything Formula 1, the teams, the cars, the drivers, the circuits. Never missing a Practice, Qualifying or the Race its self, of any circuit, watching them all in real time so to be upto date and hear it first. With a limited life, confined to a wheelchair and no real independence, Formula 1 was Josh's life.

Josh unfortunately never made it to Silverstone. So in his name and memory, Tom and Jase have divised a route to bike from where Josh lived in East Yorkshire to the Silverstone Circuit.

The plan will be to set off on the morning of Saturday 7th July 2018 and bike the 165 mile route to Silverstone in one day, and attend the British Grand Prix on Sunday 8th 2018 in Josh's honour and memory.

The Bikers Background:

Tom Kinroy, 31, Jason Roberts, 31, and Simon Caldwell, 31, have been friends since primary school. After Josh passed away the team decided to do something worthwhile in Josh's memory and to raise awareness and money for Muscular Dystrophy UK. A lot of hard work, training and determination will be needed from the team to complete the Silverstone150.
