Story

PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS RATHER THAN IGNORING!

In an attempt to further delay the ageing process, (something Jonny Smith has been unable to do!) I have decided to cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats with my friend Damian Kenley. As some of you know, I recently cycled around Richmond Park overnight for 18 hours, completing 25 laps (which is about 170 miles) to try and get some mileage under my belt.

So, the plan is to leave London early on Monday 3rd October and then hit the road upon arrival in Land's End, at about lunchtime. Our aim is to reach John O' Groats 11 to 12 days later -approximately Friday 14th October, hopefully after having cycled about 1000 miles 'give-or-take' depending on a number of factors! We both felt that this was a great opportunity to raise money for charity, and also feel its important to mention that we are doing the trip totally unsupported and funding it fully ourselves, so ALL the sponsorship money raised will go direct to the charities.

I have decided to raise money for Friends of Greemead which is for the Greenmead Primary Special School in Putney, because someone I know has a son with cerebral palsy that attends this school. Friends of Greenmead raises money to help equip physically disabled children with the special equipment and therapy services essential to their development and to enable them to live fulfilled lives. This charitable organisation supports parents and carers with children aged from 6 months to 11 years old who have cerebral palsy or other motor and sensory impairments.

A recent Ofsted report on Greemead school said "The quality of care, guidance and support is outstanding" and a parent commented "(Greenmead) has exceeded my expectations in almost every way. The staff are dedicated, enthusiastic, but most importantly, my child has made more progress in one year here than most people predicated in his lifetime."

So please, please sponsor me to help this superb charity. I am aiming to raise OVER £2500 as I think it will make such a huge difference. Please do give generously if you can as I really want to make a difference. Thank you so much.

Simon B (The Cat)

- Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
