Story
Hello and thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
As you probably know by now, on 23rd May 2009, I successfully completed the world's toughest Ironman in Lanzarote. After 14 hours and 5 minutes I crossed the finishing line together with Juliet and Eva (Zara was fast asleep) with the sound of Stairway to Heaven blaring out on the PA. My 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle and full marathon was done.
Overall, the race was really tough. The usual Lanzarote wind blew incessantly on the bike ride, making it a quite tortuous experience. A few problems eating meant that on starting the run my stomach wasn't in best shape but luckily it sorted itself out by the second half of the marathon (it must have been the Coke from the aid stations...) and I was able to finish in some kind of normal working order.
Although the stiff legs have now gone and the challenge is conquered, I hope you will be able to support my fundraising efforts for Cherry Lodge Cancer Care in Barnet.
Last August my dad was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus. Fortunately, after many months of treatment and a big operation in December he is now well on the road to recovery and Cherry Lodge is one of the places he visits to get post operative treatment and support.
It is a small and unassuming charity so any funds I raise will make a huge difference. You can find out more by visiting www.cherrylodgecancercare.org.uk - most famously Dame Helen Mirren is one of its patrons!
Using this Justgiving site to sponsor me is easy and secure. It’s also the most efficient way to donate: Cherry Lodge Cancer Care gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please, do dig deep and thanks for your support
