Hi - and thanks for coming to my page.   You might well know that last year I got a Golden Bond place in the Marathon for Samaritans - and that day in April was one I'll never forget.  The rain, hail, sun, pain and joy at seeing my folks (twice) on the course and friends at the end made it something a bit special.  I finished in 4:24, and swore never again....

But I entered the ballot....expecting to get a 'no' - and using this as the first of 5 you need to to get an automatic place.  But I got lucky[?] and won a place in the ballot.  This basically means I don't have to raise money if I don't want to, but it seems daft not to.  What I do know is that many people were very generous last year, and I feel a little bit sheepish coming back for a second time.  However, in addition to normal running costs this year, my local branch in Ealing has a special appeal to extend its premises, with a whopping £60k target - this will mean that we can do more training for volunteers as well as have better facilities for face to face visitors - so, here I am again!

Please do what you can - I know times are not easy, but it really was an inspiration last year to know when the training was getting just a bit difficult that people had put their trust - and cash - into me and this day.

Oh - and this time I'm going for under 4:00....

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Samaritans Ealing Branch gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Brilliant work Simon. I don't know how you can run that distance and then stand all afternoon outside the pub. Congrats! Donation by Jo the blister! on 28/05/09
