As you read this, please remember homelessness can have many causes, from domestic violence to job loss. One of the first things lost by people under those circumstances is hope.
In the interests of reaching my charity goal, my pilot (and flight instructor) and fellow DJ chum Adam West and I have come up with a cunning plan. Simply put, Adam has agreed to donate his time and aircraft for my charity efforts for nothing. Here's the deal:
£30 sponsorship or more = one person on a free 20 min flight around Southern England (and a sandwich)
£60 sponsorship or more = one person on a free 20 min flight around Southern England DURING WHICH YOU ACTUALLY FLY THE PLANE!!!!...... and a sandwich!!
I have done this, and it's a hard buzz to beat!!!
There will be three separate days, Sunday afternoons, across summer 2009, to make sure we can fit everyone in.
The flights will leave from an airfield convenient to London, and can cater to individuals, or groups of up to three people. We can fit lots of people in during one afternoon so plenty of space available. Obviously, whoever has forked out the big sponsorship dough gets the front seat "pilot" position as it's hard to fly from the back seats!! Go on, sponsor me, there's nothing to be afraid of (except perhaps the sandwich)!!!
Please remember this is all for an extremely good cause, so not only will you be getting the chance to go "WOOOOO!!!" as you fly around, you'll also be doing a very good thing, and helping out Crisis in their ongoing efforts to ease the inconceivably tough times being faced by homeless people.
