BUPA Great North Run 2009 · 20 September 2009 ·
Yes I know, me running a half marathon whatever next.
A little background on why I'm running will probably make thing easier for you to understand. Last year my grandmother passed away, it was very sad to see her go but at the same time it was a relief, a relief because for the last 10 years of her life she had suffered from the affect of Alzheimer's disease.
For those of you reading this that have experienced the disease in a loved one or friend then you will understand the heartache of slowly losing a person you love when physically you don’t see anything different. For those of you that have never heard of Alzheimer's disease please take some time to research and understand the condition so you can at least try to comprehend what I'm talking about.
The ones of you that know me will know that I'm a lazy arse that prefers the sofa to running, especially 13 bloody miles! But my thinking is that if I can suffer the pain of training and the struggle to get fit enough to complete this half marathon then in comparison to what my grandmother suffered it’s a drop in the ocean.
All I ask now is that you sponsor me to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society, donating through Justgiving.com is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me.
Alzheimer's Society gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving.com makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
Thanks Simon
