Story

Hi!

Phew...that was hard!! But......the good news is that after 7 days of long trekking, cold nights, porridge and milo, I made it to the top of Kili.

The final night summitt push was particularly gruelling, an ascent of 1200m was made in the pitch black and -20 temps. The lack of oxygen at this altitude did mean that I needed to make a swift journey back down the mountain (please enquire for full story!)

The trip offered a huge personal challenge, and a lot of memories of my late wife Lisa, who lost her battle against Leukaemia in April 2008.

I'll be raising money for Winston's Wish, a charity who specialise in offering support for bereaved children. After Lisa became terminally ill, Winston's Wish offered invaluable advice on the best way to talk to the girls, both before and after Lisa's passing.

I well remember Lisa explaining to Ella what was going to happen to Mummy at some point soon. I think it was the very hardest thing to have experienced during the whole journey, but drawing upon the advice from Winston's Wish, at least we knew we were saying the right things.

So this is my chance to give something back to them - thank you very much for visiting my fundraising page and taking the time to donate.
