Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have been lucky enough to have been offered a place to run the London Marathon by St John's Ambulance. It has been an ambition of mine to run the race since going as a spectator in 2016. Since this, I took up runing regularly, and have used it mainly as a stress relief, and to maintain my mental health. I really enjoy setting myself a challenge, and then working long-term to achieve it. Although I've done a couple of half-marathon's, I think that going the full distance will be the hardest thing I've ever done. Not only that, but trying to raise funds is also going to be a massive challenge. I have committed to raising as much money as I can for St John's Ambulance. Any help or support you can give me is massively appreciated, and will 100% help me through the amount of training it is going to take to get me around 26.2 miles worth of London! Hopefully I won't need their assistance on the way around!

I applied for a number of charities that I felt I could commit to raising funds for. After reading up a bit more on St John's Ambulance, I was staggered by how many events they actually make possible. Whether it be going the match, a concert, or participating in a run like this, it wouldn't be possible if there wasn't sufficient first aid support to hand. Not only this, but the work of SJA makes the working and social environments a safer place, through the amount of training and support they offer free of charge. My target is £1800. This money can be used in the following ways:

£25 could pay for 200 First Aid Guides

£40 could pay for an hour of first aid training - long enough to learn how to put someone who is unconscious into the recovery position

£80 could cover the operational costs of a first aid response unit for one hour

£120 could pay for a St Johns Ambulance trainer to teach first aid to a class of 32 children

£150 could pay for a first aid mannequin, used to treat resucitation

£300 could pay for a full day's training for a group of 12

£600 could train one of SJA's first aid trainers

£1500 could pay for an automated external defribulator, which can prove vital to the resucitation process following a heart attack

I will post regular updates as to how my training is going on here, and also plan on organising specific fundraising events along the way.

Thanks again for reading.
