Story
Whilst sat in traffic on my way to work, I hear an advert on Heart FM offering listeners the opportunity to experience the challenge of a lifetime whilst rasing money for Childine, the charity which I have supported for 25 years.
Part of me hoped the computer would say no, but it said yes, took my registration fee and so I am off to trek the Great Wall of China with 49 strangers.
For those of you who know me well, you will agree that when it comes to travelling I make Carl Pilkington look like Columbus. I like comfort, I like being spoilt and I like being at home.
But, an estimated 700,000 scared, abused and worried children will call Childine in 2012 and even thou i'm cursing the 6:30am trips to the gym, it is a small price to pay if I can help make a difference.
So, if watching me being stuck in the arse of nowhere, subjected to sleeping in hostels and being served up muck night after night with no means of escape amuses you, then it's got to be worth parting with a couple of quid to help keep this worthwhile phone and online service going.
