Helloo everyone!!
On the 26 of August, us 3 sisters are planning on taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. If you know at least one of us you’ll appreciate that this is going to be the most ridiculously challenging experience- due to the limited time constraints, our combined general stupidity and lack of fitness. BUT we still fully intend on reaching the top!!
Kilimanjaro is the highest free-standing mountain in the world; the summit towering 4 miles vertically above the surrounding savannah.
Apparently, only 40% of those who attempt to climb Kili ACTUALLY make it to the top; altitude sickness and exhaustion being a big issue, and temperatures are known to drop from 40°C at the bottom of the mountain to -20°C at the top.
We are expecting to be dehydrated/ exhausted/ ill for the duration of the 10 days the climb will take from start to finish; if not, perhaps the more likely scenario is that we’ll wander into ‘The Death Zone’, where it is said that humans physically cannot survive, and be finished off there.
But we know this experience will be worth it if we manage to raise enough money to meet our £7000 target. All the money raised will go to Care International; a charity which helps support children in the most poverty-stricken countries of the world, such as Tanzania, The Congo, Nepal, Pakistan, Bolivia and Ethiopia. The charity works to allow children access to the most basic amenities we all take for granted; clean water and food supplies, alongside access to basic health care and educational projects.
Please help by giving anything you can, bearing in mind:
-£2 pays for life-saving vaccinations for a mother and child in Nepal
-£5 pays for an orphan in Tanzania to attend a vocational training centre and work towards a recognised qualification and future
-£400 pays for a water pump to be installed in a village in Africa so children can get clean and safe water.
An added bonus; unlike other global charities, a huge 96% of the money Care International receives is spent entirely on achieving the goals and objectives of the charity, rather than to staff/ administration.
So please guys, take the time to give anything you can, even a couple of pounds would be greatly appreciated. Every penny raised will go directly to charity. Do it for the kids out there who have absolutely nothing; your sponsorship will go towards making a real difference to their lives.
To put it into perspective;
“£15 puts two orphaned brothers through school for a whole year- that’s only the price of pre-lash and a taxi on a night out”
Thanks for taking the time to visit this page!
Lots of love,
