Tree-Athlon 2012 · 15 September 2012 ·

We plant urban trees in parks, streets, schools and housing estates across the UK, as well as internationally, revitalising these areas and improving the lives of the people who live in them. We strengthen communities through volunteering opportunities and inspire children to grow and eat good food.

Story

So here's the thing. I have always wanted to do the Tree-athlon. I think trees are massively important: for air quality, for carbon, for supporting biodiversity, for retaining rainwater and preventing desertification, and for the general health and wellbeing of people and other animals.

Every year the Tree-athlon comes along and I think 'yes! this year I will do it!' and then all of a sudden it's September and I haven't trained or anything.

But you know, I go to the gym. I have been known to run 5k on the cross trainer. I may not have the fastest time, and I may be a wreck by the end. But I will run, and I will cross the finish line.
