Story
Trees for Cities is taking part
in this unique scheme run by the Size of Wales Project to plant and sustain an
area of African forest equivalent to the size of Wales. How often have you heard
the alarming news that an area of rainforest the size of Wales is being cut
down? The Size of Wales Project aims to turn that negative use of the
country's size on its head. Trees for
Cities’ contribution will involve planting urban forest and fruit orchards to
provide sustainable livelihoods for impoverished people living in the Ethiopian
capital Addis Ababa.
£20 will plant 30 square metres of community orchard and urban forest within Addis Ababa – with a total aim of planting 1.85 hectares to benefit some of the world's poorest people.
