Sophie & Zoe's Blindfold Run 2017 & Winefold Challenge

Blindfold Run 2017 & Winefold Challenge · 5 November 2017
Hey everyone,
As most of you will know, I work for the Royal Society for Blind Children, and for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to sign up to take part in a 5K at the Olympic Park. I haven't run further than a mile in my life, so this could be interesting. Oh, and also, I'll be blindfolded. So there's that. I'll be taking part in this challenge in a pair with my lovely friend Zoe.
As well as this challenge, I'll also be hosting a Winefold Challenge in the lead up to the 5K which is winetasting with a twist! You get to drink lots of lovely wines but there's a catch - you'll be blindfolded! I'll be making a separate Facebook event for all of my wine-loving pals with more information regarding donations and the night itself.
34 families a week receive the diagnosis that their child is blind. That is one family every 5 hours. There are an estimated 22,000 blind and partially sighted children and young people in England and Wales.
• 90% of those who lose their sight in youth won’t work for more than six months in their lives.
• Most will never have someone to share their life with.
At the Royal Society for Blind Children, we aim to alleviate the emotional and practical difficulties facing these families. In order for RSBC to be a sustainable entity, delivering a long-term impact, our organisational strategy focuses on a local, community centred method of service delivery.
Our mission is to ensure no child in the UK grows up to be poor or lonely just because they are blind.
I work in the community & events team, working with universities and schools, as well as heading up a Speakers Network made up of some of our wonderful beneficiaries! If anyone has any more questions regarding our amazing work, feel free to ask me anything.
Any donation, big or small will go a long way at RSBC
Thanks my lovelies xx
