This is only my second attempt at running the Great North Run and I'm working hard to make sure that I get round in one piece. My aim is to raise over £10,000 for two very worthy causes.

The first is the Evening Chronicle Sunshine Fund, a charity which seeks to help disabled children in the North East.

The second is for the Maria Douglass Fund. Maria is a member of the Advertising department at ncjMedia and she has been diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer which has now spread to her liver and lungs. She is endeavouring to raise funds to pay for a life-extending drug to give her more time with her young children and husband.
