The Event:
July 24th 2010 sees the Ski Everest Challenge event return for the third time to SNO!zone Scotland’s only indoor snow slope at Xscape, Braehead, Glasgow.
Individuals are challenged to complete 45 runs - the equivalent of the peak height of Mount Everest (8850m / 29035 feet). Challengers register for the event at a cost of £18 payable to Cancer Research UK then obtain a minimum of £50 sponsorship for Cancer Research UK.
Ski Everest is no mean feat and it has its 'challenges' – both up and down, but throughout the event, everyone taking part is supported by an enthusiastic Ski Everest Team who are on hand both on and off the slope to make your day fun-filled and enjoyable. To add to the merriment, fancy dress is encouraged although not compulsory!
This year's theme is the ‘Scottish Summer Chill Challenge’ because the event is being held in the height of summer for the first time. So if during the summer you miss the ‘white stuff’ please come along and join us for a great day out and of course you’ll be raising much-needed cash for a great cause.
History:
This bi-annual event was started in 2006 by Eileen Frater and Alison Mann and has raised over £20,000 for cancer charities to date. Check out the pictures from our previous Ski Everest Challenges in 2006 and 2008, it was great fun!
Ski Everest Challenge has attracted participants from all across the UK from as far afield as London and Aberdeen. We continue to have support from Snowsport Scotland, members of the Snowboarding Club of UK (SCUK) and many Ski Clubs throughout the UK and we cannot thank them enough for this.
