Sir Isaac Newton, when taking tea under the apple trees at Woolsthorpe one summers afternoon, was provided with the inspiration for his law of gravity, when an apple fell on his head from an overhanging branch (or so the story goes). Here at Wingletang we have decided to put Newton’s theory to the ultimate test by undertaking the challenge of a lifetime, a tandem skydive. Imagine free falling through the air, without a parachute deployed for several thousand feet reaching speeds of approx: 120 mph. All I can say is, thank goodness we will be strapped to a professional instructor at all times (although this only offers a little comfort). We will board our aircraft and reach a height of up to 15,000ft before standing at an open doorway with only the distant fields below, then all we have to do is lean forward and let go. We will plummet through the clouds for approx 45 seconds before the parachute opens (hopefully!), allowing a tranquil descent to earth.
Nicola Ging, Hannah Dunn, (staff at the Margaret Green Animal Rescue) and Garrith Garwood will all be undertaking this challenge in April 2010 to raise money for the Margaret Green Animal Rescue centre.

The Reason For Our Jump
The Rescue cattery is now in need of some serious TLC to match the superb level of care provided by the staff to the rescue cats. The priorities area to: re-lay the concrete floors in the exercise pens and security corridor including appropriate drainage; provide drainage to the garden which is the centrepiece of the cattery; refurbish the interior of the cat pens; re-lay internal floors as appropriate; maintain the side walls and roof. The total amount needed to be raised in order to complete these works is £10,000, we would very much like to raise at least half of this amount with our skydive.
