We fund education programmes to reduce poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa

Story

Nigel Boardman, Glen James and William Underhill have decided to mark our combined total of 100 years at Slaughter and May with a different sort of challenge.  In May, we are planning to spend 5 days cycling a distance of 500kms from Lusaka to the Victoria Falls or a kilometre for each of our years at the Firm for each of the 5 days! We shall be travelling along dirt and sandy roads, through real rural Africa, and at times along the shores of Lake Kariba. We hope to stand at the Falls themselves to toast our combined Slaughter and May centenary.

This is to raise money for projects which African Revival is supporting in Zambia.  Zambia has been one of Africa's most peaceful countries in recent times, yet it remains one of the poorest, lacking basic facilities in education, health and hygiene.  We are seeking to raise money:

* to construct school buildings;
* to train teachers;
* to improve access to clean water;
* to provide basic training in common illnesses; and
* to equip and support the work of schools and health clinics.

African Revival has a series of projects in Zambia which require funding and has field staff there who are dedicated to ensuring that the moneys raised are applied in the most effective manner. Their efforts are in support of some of the poorest and most disadvantaged people in the world.

We do hope you will want to join us in supporting our centenary venture.

Very many thanks in advance,

Nigel, Glen and William
