Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As some of you may remember, last year I joined Cash for Kids Co-ordinator Alison Carr to complete a 8 day mountain trek in Poland to raise money for Radio Tay's Cash for Kids Charity, and raised a total of £780.

This year we have decided to do something even more demanding and energetic (and painful!!) in aid of Cash for Kids. On Saturday August 13th we will be cycling from St Andrews to Oban in 1 day!! The 125 mile ride - from the east coast of Scotland to the west coast - is likely to take minimum of 12 gruelling hours!!

This fundraiser however, although in aid of Cash for Kids, has a more specific target.

Ayley and Chloe Hirsch have touched the hearts of everyone in Tayside. The 3 year old twins from Carnoustie suffer from cerebral palsy and face a life of immobility unless enough money can be raised to send them for life changing surgery in America.

Their family set up their own fundraising campaign and through the generosity and compassion of people from all over the area, have already raised over £70,000 of the £80,000 needed for the trip.

Cash for Kids realises that the target amount only covers the cost of the operation and flights - in addition, the girls will need intensive after care including private physiotherapy, special equipment and a much needed visit to a specialist rehabilitation centre.

Our target is to raise £1000 from this cycle ride, which would be enough to buy a treadmill so that the girls can build up their leg muscles - and their confidence - to allow them to be able walk.

Please donate as much as you can, so that we can do as much as we can, to help these special little girls lead as normal life as possible.

As well as donating through this Just Giving page*(see below), you can also donate by texting CYCL66 and the amount you wish to donate to 70070, or by contacting the Cash for Kids team direct on 01382 200800.

Please remember - Our journey is nothing compared to the one the twins are about to begin!!

Thank you for time and your generosity.

Regards

Derek & Alison

*Win a Brand New Mountain Bike

As a Thank You for your kind donation we are also running a special Raffle Prize on this Just Giving page. We are asking everyone who donates through Small Steps Cycle Ride page to guess the total time you think it will take myself and Alison to complete the 125 mile ride. (Clue - We're hoping it will be hours rather than days!!??) Please add your guess after your message when donating i.e. Good Luck - 13hrs 47 mins.

The person who guess the correct time - or closest to it - wins the mountain bike.

Good Luck!!!!
