About Children with Cancer UK:

CHILDREN with CANCER UK (formerly known as CHILDREN with LEUKAEMIA) is the leading national children's charity dedicated to the fight against childhood leukaemia and other childhood cancers. 

They fund high quality research aimed at developing improved treatments that are not only more effective but are also less debilitating and disruptive to children's lives is just part of what they do! 
They also fund research into the causes of the disease, with the ultimate aim of being able to prevent the development of childhood leukaemia and other cancers. As well as this they also support welfare initiatives to minimise the difficulties and disruptions caused by these life-saving treatments for the children. 

As well as raising awareness of the great work Children with Cancer do, I hope to raise and beat my fundraising target for them by completing the following challenges throughout 2012, my aim is to try and find 12 challenges for 2012 that will challenge me and hopefully raise good money in the process!

So far these include: 

Challenge 1

Cycle 150miles across the county via the Coast to Coast taking all off road routes – COMPLETE

Challenge 2

Complete the Adventure Triathlon, off-road run, mountain bike and kayak + more! – COMPLETE

Challenge 3

Complete the National 3 Peaks Challenge, climbing the 3 tallest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales in 24hrs!
(4409ft, 3209ft and then to finish a 3560ft climbs, all in 24hrs!) - COMPLETE in 23hours! 

Challenge 4

Gore Tex Experience Tour - Fan Dance Challenge - 14.6 miles over the Pen y Fan, 2907ft twice in under 4 hours - Complete

Challenge 5

Complete the BUPA Great North Run 2012 – 13.1 miles Half-Marathon - Complete

Challenge 6

Complete the Peak District Mountain Bike Challenge (British Heart Foundation) - Complete

Challenge 7

Complete the Salomon Keilder Marathon – 26.3 miles of HILLS!! Genuinely terrified for this! - Complete 

Challenge 8

Complete Toughmudder Challenge – “ Probably the toughest event on the planet! (check out: toughmudder.co.uk) - Complete (Mental.)

Challenge 9

Kayak 100 miles of the River Wye – October 1st, 2nd and 3rd! - Complete

Challenge - 10

Complete the Winter Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge - Complete

 

 

Challenge - 11

Run the Newcastle Dales 10km hill race, completing a 10km, half marathon and marathon for the year! - Complete

Challenge - 12

C12 - 12 Summit Challenge, 12 peaks, 14miles. Complete

My own challenge – Complete all the training involved…

The plan is to complete all of these events/challenges by the end of 2012 while hopefully raising funds for a great cause along the way! 

Any donations, however small, will, as always will go along way in helping fund life-saving reasearch and also help fund there innovative welfare projects to provide better care for young cancer patients and their families!
