Ummah Welfare Trust was founded to challenge the huge poverty and injustice prevalent in the Ummah today. Inspired by the Islamic teachings of empathy and selflessness, the charity strives to support and uplift the impoverished through the beautiful act of charity.

About Charity Week
I am trying to raise money for medical clinics in Haiti and Kashmir as part of my uni's Islamic societies charity week!

“Charity does not in any way decrease the wealth and the servant who forgives, Allah adds to his respect; and the one who shows humility, Allah elevates him in the estimation (of the people).” (Muslim)

The Cause:                                                                               UWT Medical Clinic Haiti & Kashmir
Up to 80% of healthcare in the developing world is provided through the private sector. In poor communities, health fees mean that many patients remain trapped in debt and poverty, or remain sick, and even die, through lack of treatment because they are too poor to pay.

Kotli Medical Clinic, Kashmir
In the Kotli district of Kashmir, in the mountain village of Matyal Nar, Ummah Welfare Trust is supporting a clinic that provides free treatment and medicines to poor families.

The clinic was initially community-funded but increasing poverty meant that funding, and the free medicines that it brought, eventually stopped. Ummah Welfare Trust learned of the situation and stepped in to support the centre. Between 15 and 20 patients are treated each day but monthly support from donors is still needed if this service is to continue.

Miragoane Medical Clinic, Haiti

In Haiti, Ummah Welfare Trust supports a medical clinic in Miragoane, which provides free medical treatment to around 500 patients a month.

The clinic offers free check-ups, minor surgery (including eye surgery) and medicines. In recent years, the clinic has proven hugely popular with both the near and afar. Many arrive at the clinic well-before sunrise to be seen.

'Seek help among your weak ones, for you are given provision and help only because of the weak amongst you.' (Sunan Abi Dawud)
