Thanks for visiting the fundraising page for the SNM Global Athletes who participated in the Paris half-marathon on 8 March 2009.

We ran to raise funds for "The Marie Watt Birmingham Foundation for Childhood & Teenage Leukaemia" charity and to create awareness of the message of Humanity being given by Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj (www.nirankari.com). In accordance with his thoughts we ran for "Peace Not Pieces". 

There is still time to sponsor us!! (Note - all sponsorship goes directly to the charity - the runners all funded their own expenses for this event.)

The event was quite a challenge as many of us hadn't even done a 10km run before let alone tackled a half-marathon! . Unfortunately it rained the entire duration of the marathon - quite heavily at times  - with the weather clearing up to blue skies and a beautiful sunshine a few hours later . The other obstacles we faced were trying to avoid slipping on the discarded water bottles and banana / orange peel at every 5km milestone!

The runners would like to thank the 30+ members of the Sant Nirankari Mission who flew out expecially from the UK and around Europe to support us. Waiting for us in the rain for 2 - 3 hours can't have been much fun! The friendly French supporters also helped lift our spirits with their constant cheering, clapping and shouts of "Allez Allez!" (Go go!).

Despite our aching legs, feet, ankles, knees (and muscles we never knew we had!) - we are all very happy at raising money for such a worthwhile cause! Once our limbs have recovered the SNM Global Athletes will be preparing for our next challenge...watch this space!!!!
