Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
In September this year Natalie and I are taking part in the Autumn Rickshaw run. With no preparation we fly to the Indian Subcontinent and do one's damndest to force 150cc of Indian engineering over thousands of miles of questionable terrain in around two weeks.
There is no route, only a start point and finish line, no support cars and no mechanical experience whatsoever! Our run will take us from the deep South of India, starting in Goa with the finish line being the town of Pokhara in Western Nepal. Just a quick 3000miles!
Just to give you an idea of what we will be getting up to, taken from teams that have just completed the New Year run -
' ...made it to Rajamundry after an unscheduled but picturesque trip through Godavar delta. V bumpy! Currently writing this while speeding along road with lorries, buses and motorbikes passing inches from our open cabin. Each day we scrub the fumes and dirt from ourselves whilst hallucinating about quality porcelain and hot showers.'
'Took a wrong turn, and ended up in the middle of nowhere, going along roads that had more potholes than road. Headed up to Chitoor, and lost the whole convoy, only to miss the destination by 16km. The sun set, and we had to drive back 16km in the dark, which is a nightmarish experience! Every truck, bus, car, and cow-drawn-cart had their highbeams on. '
Now doesn't that sound like fun!
We are raising money for a great Charity, Frank Water projects. Although based in Bristol their work is predominantly in India, providing brand new Clean water stations all over the country. Please check out their website to see exactly what they do, they are an extremely transparant and well deserving small charity actually providing a service and changing people's lives.
Please give anything you can afford, however little it will make a huge difference to many, many people's lives.
You can follow our progress and see photos afterwards at , we do hope to blog as much as possible while on this trip and keep you all up to date! :
