HELP TO PROVIDE CLEAN WATER, HELP TO SAVE LIVES

Clean water is essential for life, however currently there are over 1.1 billion people ( a sixth of the worlds population) who do not have access to safe drinking water. It is estimated that a child dies every 15 seconds in the developing countries as a result of diseases related to the lack of safe water.

As well as causing disease and death, a lack of clean water close to people’s homes also affects their time, livelihood and quality of life. Women and children especially often spend hours in a daily ritual, walking many miles just to collect water. 40 billion hours are wasted every day by walking to collect water. This water is often dirty and unsafe but there is no alternative. It is estimated that 2 million people die each year as a result of drinking dirt contaminated water.

With its safe water scheme, for many years the charity Muslim Hands has been ensuring that individuals and communities have access to clean and safe water for drinking cooking and other domestic uses. The method used to source the water varies with location. See their website for further information at www.muslimhands.org. They have also placed a large emphasis on schemes that address community problems as it is not just the individual who lacks access to clean water but also the community. They provide individuals with clean water and address the safe water problem by educating individuals about the dangers of unsafe water and how to responsibly manage whatever water is available, whether naturally occurring or in hand held reservoirs.

Please help me raise £1750. 00 With the funds raised  from  the project and the support of Muslim Hands, one groundwater well will be constructed in Niger, Africa. This well will provide one whole village community with safe clean drinking water.  Niger (pronounced Nee-jair) is landlocked in western Africa, 80% of its terrritory is covered by the Sahara and has been rated as the second poorest country in the world.  Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
