Walk for Autism Research, The Alnwick Garden · 13 May 2007 ·

We are the UK’s leading autism research charity. Our mission is to create breakthroughs that enable all autistic people to live happier, healthier, longer lives. We do this by funding research, shaping policy and working with autistic people to understand their needs.

Story

Hi

Thank you to everyone who has donated or sponsored us in aid of Autism Speaks. We’re really grateful to you all for visiting our fundraising page and checking us out. We’ll be here till July, so if you feel moved to give us some more money for our tremendous feat (!) please feel free to do so.

We had a great day at Alnwick Garden – we did the long walk via the woodland walk, passing The Treehouse (see photo), over the river, through the fields and beside the river with views across to the castle, over the Lion Bridge, up the hill and through the back streets of Alnwick, back to the garden, then through the labyrinth, the water features, the rose garden, up the hill, through the walled garden and finally down The Grand Cascade (avoiding the water jets) back to The Pavilion for some well-earned refreshments. Naomi decided it was too muddy for her nice new pink shoes so instead was in charge of operations from her perch on Russell’s back (in between snoozes).

We came away with medals for completing the walk and t-shirts and stuff bags for taking part. We also took away some great memories – and wet trousers! The rain stopped as we got there but of course Sophie and Callum had to have a go or two on the diggers, moving water from one side of the Cascade to the other.

If we can sort out any other photos of the walk, I’ll try to upload them so keep checking….

David missed out but you can see what he’s going to do instead on 22 September for NCH, crossing Morecambe Bay - see www.justgiving.com/revhasson.

Again, many, many thanks for your support. We’re really pleased with the great total, both on and off-line. And I’m sure Autism Speaks is too. Their research into autism is an important work and worthy of support.

Naomi (15 months), Callum (7), Sophie (9), Jennie, Debbie, Anne & Russell (all over 21)
