So last year it was lycra and sudocrem which was for the 350 mile big battlefield bike ride. There were tears and tantrums but completed it and raised £3000. Thinking I'd put my body and sole through enough I thought I could relax this year until another evening with Mum and Dad and a bottle of wine... They casually mentioned they were going to climb Mount Kilimanjaro and well, I can't be out done by a couple in there 50's - thought I'd get the walking boots on!
So with this in mind I signed up a few months ago and swiftly thought nothing of it. It was only a few days ago a friend kindly reminded me that I am more unfit than I have ever been and haven't got any sponsorship. I have loved living in denial but its time to face facts... I am going to climb a mountain - a bloody big mountain and quite frankly it scares the bejesus out of me!! I have asthma and I have no idea if this is actually a stupid thing I’m doing but its done now and I need all the support I can get!!
Besides the fact I want to prove to myself that I can do this I am doing it to raise money for Help for Heroes - a charity I am immensely proud of.
Help for Heroes is a charity who supports our wounded, providing practical and direct support to those servicemen and women wounded in the line of duty in the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
To help get me up this mountain please donate as much as you can spare to this fantastic cause!
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Help for Heroes gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
