Why am I doing this!!??
I'm sure this is a question I'll be asking myself, when halfway up Scafell at 4 in the morning!
For those who don't already know. I have agreed, in a moment of unthinking enthusiasm, to join a group of like minded fools, attempting the Three Peaks Challenge.
The Three Peaks is the broadly used term for the three mountains that make up the highest points of England Scotland & Wales. The Challenge is not just to walk these peaks but......wait for it........do it in 24 HOURS !!!!!

Omigod. Writing it out is more than a little terrifying!
Of course, it makes sense to have a good cause in mind when setting these challenges. Many of you will already know my passion for environmental causes. So I have chosen to do the walk in aid of The London Wildlfe Trust.
The Trust is a real ground level, 'roll up your sleeves and get stuck in' type of organization. If it was not for them, many of London's wild spaces, and nature reserves would no longer be here. They do much to promote a community spirit by setting up over 800 free events every year! To raise peoples awareness for their local environment, and get them involved.Within London alone, the Trust cares for 40 nature reserves. With Trust volunteers making up those who pick up litter, fix fences etc etc.
One of the most important parts of their work is the junior branch, created especially for children up to the age of 12. It has 135,000 members, and organizes hundreds of activities every year to encourage involvement and rsepect for the wildlife and environment. Educating the children on environmental concerns, including climate change and what they can do to help.
If any of you reading this has children I highly recommend the kids website www.wildlifewatch.org.uk which looks like a kids comic, and is a great starting point to get involved
