Our mission as a registered charity is to provide specialist care, love and support for those living with progressive, life limiting illnesses from East and West Sussex. We will endeavour to meet the needs of each patient, their family and friends. We aim to encourage and enable all patients to live their lives to their full potential despite their illnesses. All of our Hospice services are free of charge and we receive less than 15% of our funding from the Government. We have to raise more than £1.4 million every year through fundraising. That's £4,000 every single day. We offer a wide range of services including a Hospice in-patient unit, a Specialist Community Team, a Day Hospice, Counselling and Bereavement Services, Physiotherapy, Welfare advice, Chaplaincy and complementary therapies, as well as a Carers' Support Group and Befriender's Plus service for our patients' carers.

I thought the sight of me in a wetsuit might be enough to scare you into sponsorship!
As part of my mid life crisis, rather than saving up for the 2-seater sports car, I've decided to put my energy into completing a Quadrathlon in Norfolk on Saturday, June 27th. This involves a swim (1 mile / 1.6km) in the freezing, muddy, rough North Sea, then add a kayak (2.50 miles / 4 km), then biking (40 miles / 64 km) and finally the run (7 miles / 11.27 km) over sand dunes, mud flats and creeks. I hoping to complete this event in under 6 hours - then I'll be in the pub for the rest of June!
I've been training since January, my kids don't recognize me unless I'm in a wetsuit / running clothes / biking gear, everyone in my family is bored of listening to me discuss my aches and pains in graphic detail, the pros and cons of all in one lycra suits as opposed to separates and finding swimming 750 m in a freezing lake at 8.00 in the evening fun! So, thank you to everyone that's put up with me for the last few months - I'll be back to normal soon.
I know everyone's probably had enough of endurance event sponsorship, but I promise I will never do anything like this again, so however small, I'd really appreciate your donation - I'm hoping it will keep me going when all I want to do is lie down and cry!
