Cycling enthusiasts needed to break world record
Cycling enthusiasts are being given the chance to go down in history and raise money for The Christie by breaking the current world record for electricity generated within 24 hours by pedaling static bicycles.

The record currently stands at 12,953 kilowatt hours and organisers are looking for as many people as possible to take part to smash this target and reach over 18,000 kilowatt hours!
The attempt is taking place at Manchester Velodrome, starting 5pm on Friday 1 October and will finish at 5pm the following day. Refreshments and entertainment will be provided and participation is free.
The attempt is being organised by the original malt loaf company Soreen who will donate 50 pence to The Christie for every kilowatt hour of energy produced. It is hoped £10,000 will be raised for the leading cancer centre.
All participants will receive a goody bag and if the attempt is successful, record breakers will receive an official Guinness World Record certificate. The top three cyclists who generate the most amount of electricity will also win donated prizes which include a top-of-the-range bicycle worth £500. All record breakers will also be entered into a free prize draw to win a holiday for four people.
