Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
I am not someone who can run a marathon, swim the channel or sail across the Atlantic, but I am willing to sacrifice my dignity for a worthy cause! Many of us have recently enjoyed a great Christmas with too much food and lots of presents and this is hopefully a cause that will provide us with a chance to do something for those who are not blessed with the same comfortable environment.
Myself and other SOS Fancy Dress Thames Charity Walkers will be walking the staggering distance of 1 million centimetres (10km) along the busy Thames Path from Wandsworth Bridge to London Bridge, on a Saturday, in full fancy dress. The theme for the fancy dress is just to look amusing/ridiculous and temporarily sacrifice your dignity!
Now the important bit - the cause. The charity is the SOS Children's Village in Tomilino, Russia. This village is set up specifically for children who have been orphaned or abandoned. SOS Children’s Villages gives these children what fate has taken away from them: a loving caring mother (an SOS mother), brothers and sisters, a home, food and all that is necessary for their full physical and spiritual development. More info on the charity can be found here - http://www.sos-dd.ru/eng/tomolino.htm I personally think this is a great charity in an area often overlooked.
All of the admin costs are covered by the gift aid in this appeal, so you can rest assured your money will have an impact and will make a difference!!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: SOS Children's Villages will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now - and thank you!
