Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. On the 25th October '09 I am running in the Great South Run to raise money for the Search and Rescue Dog Association (England).

I've never considered myself as much of distance runner so early last year I decided to set myself a personal goal and run in the Great South Run '08. I thoroughly enjoyed the day, even though the weather was a bit wet. So this year I wanted to run it again and decided I would like to run it and raise money for a good cause.

As a dog lover, and they run with me on all of my training runs, I thought that is a good place to start. So looking around I found the National Search and Rescue Dog Association website I knew they are the ideal choice.

It is great to see dogs working and especially when they are helping to save lives. I'm fortunate in that I have not needed the service they provide and hope never to need it. The work they do is something that can only be achieved with the power of the dogs nose and the skill of the handler. Here is a link to the SARDA (England) website, http://www.sardaengland.org.uk/ . The dog and handler are called out to assist with searches all over the country and not just in the open country but also on water and in urban areas.
