MEGAHIKE · 24 April 2009

Based in Manchester, MedEquip4Kids improves the health of babies and children in the UK by providing equipment not available from limited NHS resources. Because we value all aspects of children’s wellbeing, we also deliver workshops in schools to support young people’s mental health.

Story

MegaHike is the mother of all one-day sponsored walks: an eye-watering 50 mile hike on some of the most challenging trails around the Pennine Way and Pennine Bridleway.  Climbing up from sea level to nearly eight thousand feet and back down again; negotiating tough hills; rough terrain; marshland and endless trails.  We set off at sunrise and keep walking until we’re done.

Extreme tiredness, blisters, aching limbs, weather and darkness are the obstacles we will be facing.  The aim is to complete the course within 24 hours – arriving at the finish line by sunrise the next morning.

We’re doing the MegaHike in aid of MedEquip4Kids, a North West based charity who buy hospital equipment for very poorly children.  Our fundraising target is £3,000 and every little helps.
