Story
Thanks to your incredible support we manage to raise over £1,000 for the British Heart Foundation, in memory of my Dad. Huge thanks also go to my mates (Wiggy, James, Tony, Andy and Stu) who made the trip with me and put up with my very slow pace all the way from Newcastle to Edinburgh. Maybe next time I'll train harder and leave the kitchen sink at home.
Having lost my father to a heart attack recently, I thought that I'd dedicate my planned cycle from Newcastle to Edinburgh in June to him and raise some money for the British Heart Foundation.
A group of friends of mine planned to cycle the 210 miles in 3 days (carrying all our own kit) for fun! An average of 70 miles per day did not, at first, sound like a 'fun' to do but it makes more sense with the passing of my father. Dad was selected, through testing, to be part of the crew on the Royal Yacht Britannia in the 1950's. The Yacht is now moured up in Edinburgh where we'll finish our cycle ride and so I can pay my respects to the Yacht on which Dad spent some of his happiest times.
