My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit the JustGiving page for Scarborough and Ryedales Mountain Rescue Team.

In 1971 the founder members of the Scarborough and District Search and Rescue team (later to become Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team) devised a walk around the North York Moors that took in 14 of the moorland 'crosses'. The route over 53 miles and with over 6000ft of accents is completed within 24hrs period starting at midday from Goathland and finishing by midday on the following day. The first walk took place in 1971 and was undertaken by a group from the team, the following year the event became a challenge walk open to the general public. This year is the 40 anniversary and to mark the occasion and again help raise much needed funds for the team a group from the team are going to undertake the walk on the 9/10 of July 2011.
