Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

What am I doing? - Riding over 1000 miles in under 24 hours by motorbike, starting in Liverpool - Glasgow - Edinbourgh - London - Cardiff - Liverpool. Verified by the IBA http://www.ironbuttuk.org/ and by the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club http://www.blueknights.org/

Why am I doing this? - My little 12 year old cousin Aiden has muscular dystrophy and wants to give something back for all the help he has had over the years and so has set me a challenge on his behalf.

What is muscular dystrophy? -

Approximately one in every 3,500 boys worldwide is afflicted with Duchenne muscular dystrophy with 20,000 new cases reported each year. It is a devastating and incurable muscle-wasting disease.

By age 10, braces may be required for walking, and most patients are confined to a wheelchair by age 12.

The outpatient cost of care for a non-ambulatory DMD boy is among the highest of any disease.

There is currently no cure for DMD, but for the first time in decades, there are promising therapies in or moving into development.

You can send well wishes to Aiden; please leave a message at his forum

Thank you :)

Dear All,

As many will be aware I had to postpone the event of the SS1000 due to bad weather and the serious ill health of Walter, my Uncle and Aiden’s Grand Dad.

It is with mixed emotions that I can say that Walter passed on today.  I say mixed emotions as this was expected but you are never, nor should you be, ready for that final event.

Walter left us at his own home surrounded by family, there was no pain as he held his wife’s hand and released his last breath, turned his head to the side and took the final sleep.  Walter, Wally to the family, will of course be missed but those that knew him will celebrate his life.

I will now be with my family while the last arrangements are being made and once this is complete I will take up the ride again. I will complete this not only for Aiden but also for Wally.

I thank you all for the kind words and understanding at this time.
