St Aloysius School for Girls in Uganda offers the freedom of a modern education to over 200 girls in a rural environment 7 km from a main road and 30 km from the nearest town, Kabale, the provincial capital and the source of supplies and important facilities.  The school depended for its personnel transport, supplies, and communications on its one and only vehicle, a dilapidated Toyota pick-up (see photo), until last Summer when it was written off in a road accident.

The Headmistress, Sister Tugtumisirize Venny, has now had to take out a loan, which the school can ill afford, to purchase a smaller, second hand vehicle to enable the school to continue to operate.  This is a temporary measure until they can somehow acquire a replacement vehicle with larger carrying capacity.  Enquiries in Kampala indicate that the cost of a new vehicle there is much the same as it is in the UK.

In an attempt to solve this problem we are appealing for contributions - however small - towards the purchase of a suitable replacement vehicle.  The charity UDS-Ufund, has kindly agreed to set up a specific Project (St Aloysius Vehicle 32204) to accept donations, and will then, once monthly, transfer those donations to Uganda.
