We made it!

After eight days days on the road, covering more than 400 miles and three different countries, 51 of us rolled into the central square in Granada, Nicaragua, on Monday 15th February, 2010, to complete the Macmillan Cancer Support Central America Cycling Challenge.

It really was a challenge, with tough terrain along the way from Panama, through Costa Rica to our final destination, humid conditions, temperatures reaching as high as 41C and some pretty basic living conditions under canvas.  But it was a fantastic experience, shared with a great group of people in some truly wonderful places.

I lost my mother to cancer in 2008 and my father in 1992.  I undertook this challenge to give something back to Macmillan, who provided tremendous support  to my parents and to us as a family during their illnesses.

As a group the final total of our fundraising will be well over £200,000.  I am proud to have played my part in that.

I would like to sincerely thank everyone who has helped Macmillan by sponsoring me to undertake this challenge and also supported and encouraged me along the way.

This page will stay open for a while longer and, if you have not yet made a donation, please consider doing so to further help the invaluable work carried out by this excellent charity.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Macmillan Cancer Support gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
