My story

On March 2nd, members of STAR and Amnesty International at Glasgow University will be sleeping outside for the night in order to raise money and awareness for destitute asylum seekers. We'll be armed with only a sleeping bag (well, more than one. One each. Otherwise it'd just be weird), a kettle and various musical instruments to keep us entertained as we battle against Glasgow's weather.

All the money raised will be going to Positive Action in Housing. PAIH is a Scottish charity that works with destitute asylum seekers, providing them with advice and support as well as a hardship fund and emergency accommodation. Destitution is a huge problem for asylum seekers, as they are not allowed to work and cannot access homelessness shelters. This is a great cause and we'd really appreciate your support.

So, what can you do to help us? The easiest way is to sponsor us! We're trying to raise £2500, so whatever you can spare would really help us to reach this target! If you're interested in getting involved further, then come along on the night. Just ask us for more details - email starglasgow@googlemail.com

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
