We train amazing hearing dogs to transform the lives of deaf people

Story

Thanks for visiting Steam Traction World's fundraising page.

It is our intention to travel the length of the UK from John O Groats to Lands End in our replica Steam Car. We anticipate achieving on average around 10mph or 80 miles per day and shall be visiting major cities to raise as much as possible for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People along the route. The total distance we intend to travel will be 991 miles.

We shall be leaving John O Groats on August 2nd and aim to arrive at Lands End on August 16th. Along the route we intend to visit, Inverness, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham, Stoke on Trent, Bristol, Exeter and Plymouth. You can see LIVE updates via our website and track our progress as we head south at www.steamtractionworld.co.uk

Any costs incurred during the journey are being paid for by Steam Traction World  to ensure that every penny raised will be donated to the charity.

To provide entertainment for everyone during the evenings in selected locations, we have teamed up with CharityExhibitions.org who will provide us with an entertaining pool exhibition by the former World Champion, Carl 'Houdini' Morris. All funds raised at these events will also be donated to Hearing Dogs.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Hearing Dogs For Deaf People gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Our goal is to raise £100,000 before, during and after the event so please give whatever you can afford and make this unique challenge worthwhile.

Thanks Very Much

About the charity

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds such as the smoke alarm, alarm clock, intruder alarms and baby monitors. These amazing dogs also help deaf people to leave loneliness behind by providing love, companionship and emotional support.
