Story
Hi Everyone,
When I had to pull out of the London Marathon earlier this year, I promised my favourite charity, FSID (the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths) that I would do something else for them this year instead - unfortunately for me, they held me to this & now I find myself training for the Great South Run in Portsmouth!
As with my previous fundraising efforts - I'm dedicating & doing this in memory of our first son, Gabriel, who died at 1 day old in December 2002, at which time and indeed since the FSID were & have been a great support to our family.
Cot death or Sudden Infant Death is not a problem of the past. It is still the biggest killer of babies over one month old, claiming more lives than meningitis, leukaemia, other cancers, and road or household accidents put together.
The Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (FSID) is the UK's leading cot death charity working to prevent sudden infant deaths and promote baby health. FSID carries out its aims by:
Funding vital research into the causes of cot death (nearly £9 million to date)
Supporting families who have been devastated by cot death
Promoting lifesaving baby safety advice to parents, carers and health professionals.
