Story
Come on in.
If you've made it this far then you're probably already aware I've got some sporting madness lined up over the new few months, culminating in the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London on October 12th. In the interests of full disclosure the complete list is:
Bupa Great Capital Run 10k (completed three weeks ago in a heart condition rendering 67 minutes)
London Triathlon Sprint Sat 9th August, Excel Centre, London
Human Race 10k, 31st August, Wembley, London
Gyro SportAid 10k, 7th September, Chiswick, London
Run to the Beat Half Marathon, 5th October, London
Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon, 12th October, London
As in previous years I'm raising money for the RNLI but this being my third year I felt I needed to change my approach somewhat and nothing screams change more than adding three 10k's and two half marathons. Seeing it all in black and white like this I have to say, it's one of those ideas that falls firmly into the "good at the time" category.
From next year I'll be supporting a different organisation so it would be great to see the RNLI off with a spash (with apologies to the bad pun police). For anyone not familiar with them, the science bit is on the left. I grew up by the sea so know the good work they do very well.
Over the coming weeks I plan on updating this page with my progress (hospital appointments, good luck texts from Paula etc) so feel free to check back. While yes the goal here is to raise some money for the RNLI it's also about having some fun so feel free to raise the ante.
This Saturday I'm taking part in the London Triathlon down in ExCel. If you're about then details of when/where/how can be found on www.thelondontriathlon.co.uk. I'll also be somewhere in West London that evening drinking copius amounts of water - I'll be the one in red, easy to spot.
Anyway, that's all for now except to say thanks again for all your support. I'm one event down, only 5 more to go.
Cheers,
Stephanie
UPDATE: 10th August
This weekend I completed the London Triathlon (sprint) to mark the second event in my 6 even challenge. There was driving rain and high winds but we all managed to cross the finish line intact, thankfully. I even managed a new personal best time which was an added, if very unexpected bonus. Thanks to everyone who came down to support, it was much appreciated given the weather and travel distances!
Next up is the Human Race 10k run in Wembley at the end of August.
Thanks again for the continued support, texts, good wishes, pints etc!
UPDATE 7th October
A quick note to let you all know what's been going on. On the downside I had to pull out of the Human Race 10k due to illness but I returned in full fettle enough to complete the Gyro Sport Aid 10k and added an extra unscheduled 5k Treeathon with Lorna "Agent" Rodericks to make up for the missed 10k.
Last weekend I completed the Run to the Beat half marathon in Greenwich. I have to say it was a very tough task, not least because of the unexpected hills, rain and TfL hiccups along the way. Eitherway it's done now and dodgy knee allowing I'm on the homeward stretch of this sporting marathon.
If you're in central London next Sunday morning then please do come along, it would be lovely to see you there.
Thanks again for your continued support.
Cheers,
Stephanie
