 We are going to be doing a five day trek on the Salkantay trail in Peru at the end of October. Its not going to be an easy task! The trail goes up to 5000m (15,000ft), so the altitude is going to make it pretty tough.

We´ve decided to do the trek in aid of People & Planet, which is a charity that i have had alot of connections with during my time at university. They work really hard to campaign for human rights issues, environmental issues , HIV/AIDS medicines and for trade justice. All of which are issues that are very important to us.

People & Planet have had many major achievments in the past , including;

- Supported countries rights to access affordable treatment for their citizens, last year they helped over 8000 people in Thailand receive treatment, and in July 2008 the first steps were taken to setting up a new international mechanism to bring down the cost of medicines.

-In 2007 they won the Best Campaign Award at the British Environment and Media Awards.

-As a direct result of their campaigning 59 schools and colleges have acheived Fairtrade status.
