Everest Base Camp trek · 1 March 2010

The RMBF was formed to relieve need, distress or hardship suffered by any person who is serving, has served or is a dependant of a Royal Marine, irrespective of rank. It also provides immediately on the death of either a serving RM or a reservist on duty a sum of money for the next of kin to help them cope with any pressing financial matters.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Stephanie Atkinson and I am the proud wife of a serving Royal Marine. In November 2010 I will be yomping to the Base Camp of Mount Everest to raise money for HOW and The Royal Marines Benevolent Fund.

The trek is an extreme physical and mental challenge, taking 19 days, covering over 100km and reaching an altitude of 18,000ft.

My husband served on Op Herrick 9 in Afghanistan with 45 Commando. The six months he spent away were particularly difficult but it was absolutely nothing compared to what some families went through.

I was one of the lucky ones - my husband made it home.

Nine of the men he served with did not.

Donating through JustGiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: the charities get your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, JustGiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. I have a page for each charity so you can choose who you would like to donate to.

Please dig deep and donate as much money as you possibly can to help support those who have lost a loved one and those who have been affected as a result of fighting for their country.

Thank you so much
