END TO END CHALLENGE to help END THE CHALLENGE OF STROKES
The End to End Challenge is a walk from Land’s End to (somewhere near) John o’ Groats in memory of my late wife Ann Davies, who died as the result of a massive stroke in February this year.
With due deference to my 70 year-old legs, my 1 year-old hip replacement, family and other commitments, the 1000+ mile, 60-day walk is divided into five sections based on national trails:
South West England - SW Coast Path
Middle England - Offa’s Dyke and the Gritstone Trail
Northern England - Pennine Way, Settle-Carlisle Path
Southern Scotland - West Highland Way
Northern Scotland - Great Glen Way
The first 275-mile Middle England section, from Minehead to Glossop via Offa’s Dyke and the Gritstone Trail will be completed by the end of September. The walk resumes from Land’s End in March 2017 and should be complete before Scotland’s midge season starts in July 2017.
The £5,000 target reflects the almost 50 years that we were married. Towards this total £900 has already been given to the Association as a result of donations at Ann’s funeral, to which Aviva plc kindly gave a ‘matching’ donation of £250.
Please feel free to make your donation in any way. For example as a one-off donation, as a contribution at the end of each stage or at the end of the whole walk (with an added bonus for completing it all perhaps!).
Many thanks for supporting the work of the Stroke Association.
